BMW 520I/530I (G30/G31) (2017-)

The BMW G30/G31/G38 is the seventh generation of the 5 Series. It was officially announced in October 2016, and sales began in February 2017.

The body styles of the range are:

• 4-door sedan/saloon (G30)
• 5-door wagon/estate (G31)
• 4-door long-wheelbase saloon (G38)

The 2017 BMW 5 Series boasts good performance from its surprisingly small 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and fantastic handling both on the highway and back roads. The 5 inherits much of the excellent driver aid and cabin tech from the larger 7 Series, including iDrive 6.0 in the dashboard.

Under the our 530i's hood, you'll find a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine -- a smaller engine than you might expect to find in a sedan of this size, but still a fairly mighty one. Output is stated at 248-horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque which the 5 Series sends to the rear wheels via an eight-speed steptronic automatic transmission with paddle shifters and a selectable sport mode.
